Remember to Breath | Issue No. 12 | Author: Caleb
It seems like a major theme for many of us right now is exploring the role of rationality, and where exactly it fits when living a life higher consciousness.
In the “fiat consciousness”, most of the actions we take are based in a loss of faith in the universe, a fear that if we do something “wrong” that we will experience something that is not what we think is in our best interest. It can be hard to move from a life where so many of the actions we take are mind/fear based, to one where we are supposed to…feel?
Seeing as the fiat consciousness is one of fear and rationality (or irrationality for that matter), one approach may be to tame our fear-based rational mind in a practical, proof-based way. Fears dissolving leads to positive outcomes, leaving space for our faith to grow, and we start to feel like we can begin “dipping our toes” into this higher consciousness lifestyle.
Our greatest fear…ourselves?
In the past three podcasts I recorded for Decentralized Consciousness, two of the guests mentioned the book The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. In this book, Don Miguel posits that the biggest fear that all humans “suffer from” is the fear of truly living. Essentially he is saying that we are the most afraid of what will happen when we live as our authentic selves!
It is my experience, and probably for many of you as well, that when an initial fear goes away, this is the big one that steps in. Even though we are no longer afraid to lose the comfort of money, a social status, or your reason here – we ask, what am I going to do with myself now? Or to put it more succinctly, how am I going live authentically??
Dipping your toes in authenticity – A practical approach
The video below was sent to me by a friend a couple of days ago. It was a response to someone asking him, “Can you tell me everything I need to know?”
In response, he outlines three simple steps for living a life of authenticity, one of the best possible connection to your node:
- Whatever options are available to you at any given moment, choose the one that contains more excitement than any other even if it’s just a little bit more.
- Act on it to the best of your ability taking it as far as you can until you can take it no further – do this with integrity.
- Do this with absolutely no assumption, no insistence on what the outcome ought to be, or how it should look, or how you should get there whatsoever.
From toes to diving in head first
Bashar’s response in this video is a formula for those of us who are afraid of living as our highest selves. It is a practical approach that allows for the gentle “prodding” of our fears and disortions, creating vibrational “rungs on a ladder” founded in small pieces of physical proof.
Through this approach, we may gradually begin to “feel” authenticity through excitement, take action upon it, and learn from a higher, more neutral state of consciousness. Some of these experiences may be painful – we may find that a new endeavor was not as fulfilling as the initial feeling we perceived. However, as long as we took those actions from a higher intent, the intent to experience genuine action, what we will always receive in return is an opportunity to do that even more.
The neutrality of outcome is probably the most important of these three steps, as it allows for any outcome to transmute – whether it is pain or pleasure – from going just a little bit deeper into the water, until we can trust the flow to dive in completely.
I look forward to giving this practical approach a try, and I hope you may find it useful in your life as well. Be sure to reach out and let me know how it goes!
